Western Wake Crisis Ministry is Now NeighborUp
History Western Wake Crisis Ministry is one of St. Andrew’s first outreach ministries founded in 1983. When our church was established Catholics were a minority in Apex. The Franciscan Friars along with parishioner Antoinette Clark, saw a need in our Apex community and reached out to other area churches and so WWCM began. Antoinette Clark was its volunteer director for many years.
Over the past 43 years St. Andrew has supported this ministry with food and financial donations. The organization has served Western Wake County including Apex, New Hill, Friendship, Holly Springs, Fuquay and Willow Springs. Families can come monthly and shop at the client choice food pantry. Financial assistance is given to those experiencing a crisis (utilities, rent, medications). Just over the last 10 years St. Andrew Parish has donated $275,411 and 47,370 pounds of food!
The Future (All Hands On Deck) As a result of the dramatic increase in need in our community WWCM (Apex) and Dorcas Ministries (Cary) have joined together to become NeighborUp with the idea that we are stronger and more impactful together. Neighbor Up (Apex Campus) is still located at 1600 Olive Chapel Road. Operations remain the same. Our food pantry is well organized and a model for other pantries. St. Andrew’s recently formed St. Vincent de Paul Ministry works hand in hand with Apex NeighborUp through referrals assisting families financially with utility bills, rent and gas. They also refer people to the food pantry and support NeighborUp's Adopt A Shelf Program.
We are so grateful to St. Andrew parishioners for your support as we lift our Neighbors Up!
Donations to NeighborUp can be sent directly to 1600 Olive Chapel Road, Suite 408, Apex, NC, 27502. All donations are tax-deductible. During food drives a link will be provided by the parish.
Other ways to donate during the year:
